Let the Feasting Begin!
November usually marks the start of sweaters, being cozy, and an abundance of food with friends and family. This time of year can also be uncomfortable for some, being surrounded by sweets, overeating or the emotional binge eating.

Chew your food: thoroughly chewing your food, helps to break it down for faster vitamin absorption. It will also reduce any bloating & gassy aftermath. Eat slowly!

Portion Control: grab a smaller plate as the dinner plate, if possible. If you want a little bit of everything, that's fine too! Stock up on the vegetables before the heavier carbs like breads and pastas.

Drink Water: replace your carbonated beverage or juice with water. Drink a glass of water prior to eating to assist with portion control.

Wait 15-20 seconds: it takes some time for your body to to realize it's not hungry anymore. Try waiting 15-20 minutes before going back for seconds.

Dessert: Bring your own or if you absolutely can't avoid Great Aunt's pie, go for a smaller piece, drink water, and enjoy!

Eat Mindfully! Be present when eating, put the phone away and pay attention to flavors, the aromas, the likes and dislikes on your plate.

MOVE! Don’t forget to get up and move around after eating. The movement will help with digestion and will keep you from falling asleep on a full belly.

The holidays are about togetherness, even during times of social distancing. Take advantage of the slower pace, take a walk with your family, take the dogs for a walk, walk with your neighbor, reach out to someone that you know is spending the holidays alone.

Being forced to slow down can bring new meaning to life.
